Echoes of Stone – natural resonance that inspires

Petteri Jalkanen

The Maker

For me, craftsmanship is more than a profession — it is a way of seeing and building the world.

I am an entrepreneur, woodworker, and stone mason whose work brings together respect for natural materials, strong traditional craftsmanship, and modern technological skills. Every project begins with an idea and a material, but in the end the goal is always the same: to create something durable, functional, and timeless.

Wood and stone are materials with their own character. Wood lives and moves, stone endures. Both carry their own natural story.

In my work, I aim to highlight the natural character of the material rather than force it into shape. The best results come from understanding the material — its structure, its strengths, and how it wants to be shaped.

Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me. Its forms, textures, and quiet balance influence how I design and create. In nature nothing is unnecessary and nothing is accidental. The same principle guides my work: every detail should have a purpose, and every structure should make sense.

At the same time, my work belongs to the present. Alongside traditional craftsmanship, I use modern technology in planning and production. Technology does not replace craftsmanship — it supports it, allowing greater precision, new possibilities, and the ability to create complex and demanding work while maintaining the quality of true handcraft.

Quality and durability are at the core of everything I do. I approach each project with the idea that what I create should stand the test of time — both in function and in appearance.

Good craftsmanship is never temporary; it remains valuable and meaningful for years to come.

As an entrepreneur, I work carefully, thoughtfully, and in close collaboration with my clients. Whether it is a small detail, a custom-made piece, or a larger project, every commission follows the same philosophy: plan well, build with precision, and finish with care.

In the end, my work is about something simple — creating something by hand that lasts, serves its purpose, and feels authentic.

Speaker building began in the 1990s as a personal hobby project. The first speakers were created through experimentation, learning, and hands-on craftsmanship.
